Summer Programs
The Shooting Star Summer program in conjunction with Coach Kendrick Basketball
World will be providing enhanced opportunities for basketball players from the Valley to play summer basketball.
This will involve the pooling of resources and expanded summers programs.
We will have three female teams
and three male teams, U14, U16, U18. If interests is significant enough then we may consider adding U 14 teams.
With six summer teams we are giving opportunities for coaches to coach teams. Coach Kendrick will oversee the coaches
and their activities.
Pat Havard will be coming on board to coach the 18U women's
team. Pat is currently the assistant for the Acadia Women. See bio. Coach Tim Kendrick will be leading the boys side of the equation. Coach
Kendrick has 20 plus years of experience, with provincial titles and National Team experience and won a silver medal at the
most recent Canada Games.
Try outs for the teams will be on April
23, 30 and May 1 , 2011 at Avonview High School. For more info click here
Each team will play in local games and travel. Since these are summer teams travel is required
in order to get sufficient competition.
Coaching and Summer Jobs Shooting Star hires summer students to assist with coaching. Each year we try to hire CIS players,
last year Jeremy Dunn was hired. Jeremy plays for St. FX. If you are a collegiate
player at any level and are interested in a Summer Position please contact Tim Nickerson. As well, if you are a volunteer coach and would like more experience and training contact
Tim right away as we are slotting coaches into positions.
